Female Hygiene: Information About Menstrual Disorders

Most women experience normal menstruation; however there are some who might experience problems in the form of various physical or emotional symptoms during menstruation. These menstrual disorders also take a toll on the female hygiene as they have a tendency to affect the vagina in various ways.

Abnormal Uterine Bleeding (AUB)

This is a quite a common disorder associated with menstruation. As the name suggests, it involves abnormal and heavy bleeding during menstruation. The disorder is such that women who suffer from it have to literally put their lives on hold, just to deal with the disorder. More bleeding means an increased use of female hygiene products and this in turn could lead to more infections.

Amenorrhea

This is a disorder that is a complete antithesis of AUB, in the sense that there is an absence of menstruation. This is a condition that usually occurs during pregnancy, before puberty or after menopause. There are two types of amenorrhea that could occur in a woman and these are primary amenorrhea and secondary amenorrhea. The former is said to have occurred when a woman does not experience menstruation by the age of 16. The latter is said to have occurred when a woman who has a well established pattern of menstruation, suddenly develops amenorrhea.

Menstrual Cramps

Menstrual cramps are a common occurrence and most women are prone to suffering from this type of menstrual disorder at some time or another during their lives. There might be instances when these cramps could assume the kind of severity wherein you will need to consult your doctor.

Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)

When we talk about female hygiene disorders the term PMS is used quite frequently. When it comes to severity and causing disruption in their daily lives, PMS is more potent than various other menstruation disorders that are typically faced by women. Their associated effect on matters related to female hygiene is also greater. There are various symptoms that are associated with PMS like constipation, headaches, bloating and painful breasts, amongst others.

There are many psychological effects of menstrual disorders, as well. Awareness about these symptoms will help a woman associate her collective symptoms with specific menstruation disorders, as well as, pertinent female hygiene requirements.
